VVA Resolution
WHEREAS,
The Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc. is a congressionally chartered veterans
organization consisting of
WHEREAS, The Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc., since its
inception, has researched recommended and monitored the cost and delivery of
veterans programs by the federal government; and
WHEREAS, The Vietnam Veterans of America,
Inc. has regularly communicated to Members of Congress its views and findings
concerning the funding and delivery of VA services; and
WHEREAS, Among the most effective means of communication
has been the appearance of representatives of the Vietnam Veterans of America,
Inc. to present written and oral testimony before both the House' Veterans
Affairs Committee and the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, either in separate
and/or joint session; and
WHEREAS, The Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc. and other
veterans’ organizations testimony and related presentations have been made
well in advance of final decisions of funding VA services and the completion of
the federal budget; and
WHEREAS, The Chairman of the House Veterans Affairs
Committee has decreed that future testimony by The Vietnam Veterans of America,
Inc. will be received annually in February; and
WHEREAS,
The change to February was made without consultation with and in spite of prior
objections by The Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc. and other veterans’
organizations; and
WHEREAS,
It is the opinion of The Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc. that rescheduling
testimony to February will seriously degrade The Vietnam Veterans of America,
Inc.’s ability and opportunity to carry out its duties as mandated in its
Congressional Charter;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, By The Vietnam Veterans of
America, Inc., New Jersey State Council, that VVA New Jersey State Council is on
record in opposition to any change in the scheduling of veterans service
organization’ testimony before Congressional Veterans Affairs Committees; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That The Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc., New
Jersey State Council President John
D. LeGates be, and is hereby directed to transmit, under cover of
correspondence, a copy of this resolution to every member of the New Jersey
Congressional Delegation; and be it further
RESOLVED, That The Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc., New
Jersey State Council undertake the widest possible dissemination of the position
established by this resolution; and be it finally
RESOLVED, That this resolution be forwarded to The Vietnam
Veterans of America, Inc., National Headquarters for all appropriate action
consistent with the intent of this resolution.
